Mrs. Specht - Physical Education & D/APE

My name is Jillian Specht and I couldn't be more excited to be starting my second year teaching Physical Education and DAPE at Raven Stream Elementary!  I live in New Prague with my husband and two kids.  I enjoy spending as much time outside with my family as possible.  Some of my hobbies outside of teaching include camping, fly fishing, sunset chasing, hiking, woodworking, and photography.

I graduated from Winona State (Bachelor's Degree) in 2003 and from Minnesota State University (Master's Degree) in 2012.  I have previously taught Physical Education and DAPE in the Faribault School District (16 years) and Health and Physical Education in Le Center School District (2.5 years).

I love building strong relationships and making great connections with my students.  My gym is an inclusive, positive learning space full of love, safety, wellness, and fun!  I am looking forward to another awesomely active year in the gym with all of my Raven Stream students!

  •  Tennis shoes
  •  Sweatshirt or jacket for cooler days

Roller skating is a wonderful form of aerobic exercise, and it is also a fun, life-long fitness activity! Our District owns 129 pairs of roller skates, 50 helmets and 70 sets of pads (knee ,wrist and elbow). First through fifth grade students will get to participate in roller skating within their Physical Education classes. The roller skating equipment is shared amongst Raven Stream, Falcon Ridge, Eagle View, and St. Wenceslaus schools. A huge THANK YOU to the New Prague Education Foundation and the elementary school administrators for supporting our Physical Education programs. Without their support, it would not be possible to have this life-long activity in our curriculum.

No personal skates will be allowed.

Students are encouraged to bring their own bike or skate helmets to use during our roller skating unit.

To participate, please bring:
   1. 2 pairs of long socks to keep at school for gym days
   2. Helmet, if you have one
