Meet Mrs. Newton

My name is Nyla Newton, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year. It's going to be an awesome year!  This year my goals are for your child to grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally too.

 

I have 24 years of teaching experience and this is my third year teaching 5th grade here at Raven Stream. I have previously taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.  I graduated from Willmar High School, earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College in Moorhead and then completed my master's degree in  Curriculum Design and Instruction from St. Mary's University.

 

I live with my husband, Paul and have two boys that are both attending the University of Minnesota Duluth.  We have a dog named Aggie that loves to go on lots of walks, too! When I'm not out walking my dog around town, I enjoy relaxing at our cabin up north, having camp fires in our back yard, and baking new recipes. Over the summer we took a trip to Holland and Germany.  I learned so much about the history of these countries and got to see lots of castles!
