Meet Mrs. Brandt

 

Hello! My name is Kara Brandt...and I'm super excited to be looping with my class to 2nd grade! This will be my 20th year of teaching and my 15th year at Raven Stream. Before that, I taught 3rd grade in The Colony, TX. In between these jobs I stayed at home with my children while they were young. I received my bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University and my master's degree from St. Mary's University.

 

I grew up in Lester Prairie, MN and now live in New Prague with my husband, Shawn. We have three children who all went through Raven Stream Elementary. Morgan (24) just completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  Adam (22) is in the Air Force and stationed in the United Kingdom working with the avionics/navigation systems of C130s. Rachel (20) is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse studying elementary education. I enjoy hiking, running, swimming, traveling to new places, and being on the lake. Playing with my sweet little dog, Phoebe, is a favorite too.

 

I look forward to being your child's teacher (again) and working together to make this year a successful and positive learning experience for your child. We'll have lots of fun too! : )

 

 

This past June, Shawn and I traveled to Banff National Park in Canada to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We decided to take the kids along to share one last trip together before they all move on and do their grown up jobs and start families of their own. Moraine Lake (above) and Lake Louise (below) are the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I felt like I was in a fairytale!

 

 

In Banff we did lots of hiking (even in snow) and saw so many amazing views. Spending the time with the kids was so precious.

 

Lots of wonderful memories were made.

 

 

Shawn and I traveled to Utah in 2022 where we hiked Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. 

I love hiking and exploring new places.

 

Phoebe is my forever puppy, even at 13 years old. She is the queen of the castle.
