Cold Weather Gear: Since colder weather is finally here to stay, we want to remind you of our general guidelines:
- Coats are needed for recess when the temperature is below 45 degrees.
- If students chooses to wear shorts, they will need to have long pants to put over them for recess. Students will be kept inside without these items.
- Hats and mittens are needed for recess any time the temperature is below 40 degrees.
- Snow pants and boots are needed in order to play in areas except for the blacktop any time there is snow on the ground.

As winter arrives, we must think about inclement weather and the potential for school closings. You will be notified by email, phone or your Infinite Campus Inbox if we need to close school early. Raven Stream Elementary, along with all elementary schools in the district, will use Blended Learning for the first school closing. Here are some important points about our Blended Learning Days.
- A change this year for elementary students is that the first inclement weather day will be a school day with “Blended Learning” lessons for students to complete at home. This change is due to the reduction of student learning days for the READ Act professional development days.
- Lessons will have a "blend" of online or traditional paper/pencil activities. Online activities may be available as a choice or option, but not as a requirement.
- Teachers will include Blended Learning activity sheets in students' folders, passports or planners as they are able. Links to the activity sheets will also be emailed out by 9:00 a.m.
- Teachers can be reached via their school email between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Blended Learning provides continuous and meaningful learning opportunities. Students will not have to make up any snow days in the spring.
