As you talk with your students at home, ask them how they worked successfully with others at school. These conversations are a wonderful way to build the home-school and reinforce the teamwork skills we are practicing at Raven Stream!

RAVEN READY: Ready to Work Together!
We have reached our second stop on our Raven Ready: Together We Soar journey! October’s destination is Teamwork Trail, where we are focusing on collaboration, listening, contributing, and communicating to work positively with others. This connects directly to the NPAS Profile of a Graduate pillar, Collaborator.
Throughout the month, students will learn ways to successfully partner with others throughout their day. They will also have the opportunity to play a game with their buddy classrooms, practicing how to play fairly, accept defeat, and show good sportsmanship. These are important life skills that extend far beyond the classroom!
We will come together as a school for our first all-school assembly on October 21, to celebrate National Unity Day, a day focused on inclusion and connection. This is perfectly aligned with our October theme! Please have your students wear orange on this day. We will also decorate the cafeteria in orange and have conversation cards at lunch to encourage students to talk about inclusion, connection, and making sure everyone feels they belong.
We will also have our annual Harvest festival on Friday, October 30th. Students will have an opportunity to wear a costume if they choose on this day. In order for all students to enjoy this fun celebration, costumes should not include blood, weapons, or scary face masks. Also the parade is long & uses the stairs, so students need to be able to walk up and down easily in their costumes. Individual teachers or grade levels will communicate directions about wearing or changing into costumes, as well as other specific directions about that day as needed. The parade is at 2:15, doors will open at 2:00. Check in at the entrance of the school.
Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated October 26-30. Please see this flyer for more details. Our teachers spend time with specific lessons to support healthy choices with our students
