Your vote matters! In our last referendum in fall 2023, only 39% of eligible NPAS families voted. The measure was defeated by just 36 votes—a number so small, it underscores how critical every single vote is in a local election like this.
We all want what’s best for our students. One of the best ways we can support them is by staying informed and engaged. Please take time to learn about the referendum, ask questions, and share accurate information with others in your networks and local communities.

Profile of a Graduate
Being an engaged learner means your child isn't just sitting back and listening; they're like a super detective on a mission to understand! They listen carefully when the teacher or their classmates are talking, and they're not afraid to ask questions when something doesn't make sense or they want to know more. Engaged learners also look for extra ways to learn, maybe by reading a book about something interesting or trying to figure out how things work. Plus, they're always trying to connect new information to things they already know, like figuring out how a new math problem is similar to one they've solved before. Basically, they're in charge of their own learning adventure!

Reading Corner
- Read aloud and discuss: Reading aloud doesn’t have to mean only books – it could be magazine articles, menus or subtitles on a favorite show. Encourage your child to follow along with the printed words while reading aloud. While reading, ask questions like, “What do you think will happen next?” or “Why do you think that character did that?” These questions help build comprehension and make reading interactive.
- Visit the library together: A library trip can be an adventure. Encourage each family member to find a book that sparks their curiosity and ask them to share what drew them to their choice. Many libraries also have literacy programs or family events, so take advantage of these opportunities to meet others who enjoy reading.
