Dear Raven Stream Families,
As we approach the midpoint of the school year, we're filled with gratitude for the incredible journey we've shared as a Raven Stream community. Our theme, "Leave It Better Than You Found It," has inspired us to strive for excellence in all that we do. From our vibrant community events to our innovative learning experiences, we've been amazed by the dedication and enthusiasm of our students, staff, and parents. Here are some of our highlights:
- RS Community Events: family picnic, Feed My Starving Children, Harvest Parade, No Fundraiser, Fundraiser (over $11,000 in donations),
- SMART Room & Outdoor Education monthly activities for movement and learning organized by community volunteers,
- Safety protocols for lockdowns, evacuations and bus,
- Weekly team meetings for staff to set goals, analyze data, and plan for student learning,
- READ Act training for teachers, completing 30–40 hours with modules 1-6 up to this point in the year,
- Hundreds of hours of volunteers in classrooms with students, the Creative Commons, the art room and in many other ways,
- Assemblies to gather together for things like Veterans Day, NP homecoming, Duck Cup speaker, and electricity.
Well, those are just a few of the many things that the amazing adults at school make happen each day at Raven Stream. Thank you for sharing your students with us and for the support you provide for their learning. Our hope is that you can enjoy your time together, and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
Mr. Engebretson

When is my child too sick for school?
- If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more, they should be kept home until they are fever free without fever reducing medications for 24 hours.
- If your child is vomiting or has diarrhea, they should be kept home for 24 hours after their last episode.
- If your child has been diagnosed with strep throat, they should be kept home until they have been on an antibiotic for 12 hours.
- If your child is diagnosed with pink eye, they do not need to stay home unless they have a fever or are not healthy enough to participate in routine activities. Antibiotics or a note from a healthcare provider are not required for your student to return to school.
- If your child has a rash with no known cause, they must be kept home until a doctor has determined whether or not the rash is contagious. If treatment is started, your child should be on medication for 24 hours before returning to school. This guideline also applies to a diagnosis of impetigo.
What should I do if my child cannot participate in gym class due to an injury? If your child sustains an injury that prevents them from participating in gym class for more than one week or requires any accommodations while at school, a physician’s note is required. The note should include the nature of the injury and any restrictions or accommodations that will be needed.
What do I do if my child needs medication while at school for an illness or injury? If your child needs medication for any illness or injury while at school, a medication administration consent form must be completed and turned into the school’s health office along with the medication to be administered. A physician and parent/guardian signature is required for prescription medications. A parent/guardian signature is only required for over the counter medications. Please do not send any medication to school with your child without notifying the health office first.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate, to call Nurse Sue at 952-758-1506.
