"Play Hard, Play Fair, and Be Safe"

I'd like to welcome everyone to the 2025-2026 school year. I am excited to be able to teach all K-5 students the importance of movement and being physically active. Physical education class will provide opportunities to learn about sportsmanship, perseverance, how to work with others, enjoyment, handling challenging situations, and many other important life-long lessons. I look forward to a great year!

Highlights from Raven Stream and Raven Stream Physical Education:

- We raised $7,456.37 for the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart 2015.

- We raised $10,947.71 for the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart in 2016.

- We raised $8,617.50 for the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart in 2017.

- We raised $13,767.64 for the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart in 2018.

- We raised $10,334.00 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2019.

- We raised $11,211.19 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2020.

- We raised $16,487.68 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2021.

- We raised $18,198.97 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2022.

- We raised $20,310.90 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2023.

- We raised $22,000.02 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge in 2024.

- We were nationally recognized as a "Let's Move! Active School" in 2014.

- We were personally challenged by the former First Lady Michelle Obama to the #gimmefive challenge.

- With the help of our SHIP (Statewide Health Improvement Program) grant, we were able to:

- Start a breakfast program.

- Start a water hydration station.

- Start a school garden.

- Created 1/4 and 1/2 mile walking/running paths outside.

- Planted 6 apple trees.

- Mr. Bastyr and Mrs. Smith earned 2015 Fox 9 Top Teacher Award.
